ABOUT US

WHERE ENERGY MEETS PEOPLE

In 2021, IPS acquired three legacy power plants across Puerto Quetzal and Esquintla. Additionally, IPS owns two barges that provide offshore power generation capabilities, bringing the IPS portfolio to over 440 MW of reliable power generating capacity. And we promise to keep the momentum going as we continue to add to our portfolio, yield opportunities for advancement, and invest in sustainable energy sources for the future and betterment of our communities.

Claude Hendrickson,

Founder and President

Claude graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama and received his MBA from the University of Chicago. He began his career working with Alabama Power and Georgia Pacific before founding Alabama Dry Felt, LLC and operating the company from 1992 to 2002. After seeing this venture’s success, he went on to found Dixie Companies, where he began extensive work in the EPC, demolition, and remediation markets before moving on to establish International Turbine Services, LLC in 2014, where he dove head-first into the energy sector by acquiring power barges in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. In 2021, he founded International Power Services, LLC, through the acquisition of the assets of Orazul Guatemala, the largest power-producing plant in Guatemala. We see his vast experience and dedication to the everyday operations of IPS in his steadfast management of operations, bringing his deep knowledge of the technicalities of power generation and business through his time in the industry.

Roberto Lopez,

Founder and Vice President

Roberto graduated with a Legal and Social Sciences degree from Francisco Marroquin University and an MBA from the University of Miami. His 27 years of experience in the energy sector began through his time at Enron Guatemala starting in 1995, first in the legal area and then in the commercial area. He went on to found Inver Energy for the development and operation of hydroelectric projects in 2001. In 2008, he successfully sold the company along with its generation assets to Duke Energy. From there, he brought a new vision to life, Inver Hidro, to continue the development of hydroelectric projects. Through the company’s development process, co-investments and partnerships were achieved with the IFC (World Bank), the Conduit fund, the Real fund, the Globelec fund, and Hunt Energy. In 2012, he left the development of hydroelectric plants and migrated to energy commercialization. In 2017, he founded the company Inversiones Nacimiento, which achieved records for the export of electricity to Mexico and El Salvador. In 2021, he brought this success to his partner Claude Hendrickson, with whom they bought Orazul Guatemala, which has grown into the IPS we know today, with the largest installed generation capacity in Guatemala.

Supply and Resource Administration

Convergence Center

Since 2021, IPS has had a significant role in the creation of the Convergence Center, an effort formed through the partnership of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, COCODE, and Orazul to help strengthen the services provided at the Social Clinic in Parcelamiento Arizona. IPS has aided in the Convergence Center’s work, including a full renovation of medical facilities, providing upgraded medical equipment, additional health services and resources for children and families, and access to immunizations for the inhabitants of the neighborhoods surrounding the Arizona Power Plant.

Community involvement

Local Recreational Basketball

Yes, we do ball. And we’re bringing that IPS energy to the court with our recreational basketball team. Serving as a way for all IPS team members–from those on the plants to behind the desks–to create authentic, meaningful relationships with the communities we serve, we have joined a local league for monthly pickup games at local rec centers near our Guatemala plants.
