Where does fungus come from?

We all naturally have fauna and flora on our bodies. In the modern world we live in feet are placed into shoes this provides the idea environment for fungi to grow; dark, warm, and moist the perfect conditions for funguses thrive.

ATHLETES FOOT

This presents as wet, sometimes broken irritated skin in-between the toes, but the rest of the foot has a dry scaley, red, appearance that no amount of moisturising helps, Treatment advice will be provided during your appointment.

FUNGAL NAILS

These occur as a result of a long-term skin infection that has spread into previously damage nails, giving the nail a discoloured, thickened appearance.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

All treatment for fungal nail infections is undertaken only after a fungal nail test, this test takes 5 minutes and is 97% accurate. No more waiting 3-4 weeks for test result. In the time the infection can spread deeper into the nail bed.

NAIL FENESTRATION

The drilling of small holes though the nail to allow a topical application of an anti fungal liquid to pass through the holes and treat the infected nail bed.

CHEMICAL NAIL OBLATION

The removal of the whole nail using a topical cream and occlusion, this dissolves the nail. Once the nail has gone the nail bed can be treated for the fungal infection with a topical cream.

SURGICAL NAIL REMOVAL

The nail is surgically removed under a local anaesthetic and once the area has healed, the fungal infection is treated with a topical anti - fungal cream.
